Universal Studios definitely made the right call by putting a Cylon front-and-center on the Box Art for this blu-ray release! **Of course** the studio is going to put a Cylon on the front cover...**what else** would you put there - the Cylons ARE Battlestar Galactica! This cool image of a Cylon is very eye-catching...I tip my hat to the designer! I also totally love the red "rubbed sand-paper" look of the background with the Cylon's red eye staring right through you...and check out the BACK COVER of this release...with an absolutely BEAUTIFUL full-color photo-montage of the entire BSG cast! Judging this release **JUST** by the Cover Art, this release is clearly a 5 star winner...please don't, "roll your eyes" and dismiss this blu-ray release out of hand....this great looking Box Art is firing on all cylinders...!"

Ummm, this was not a good transfer. It was a problematic transfer with maybe a favorable rating of 65% if one were to be overly generous. This was a project that should have been handled by..."CBS Digital"...(who remastered the.... "1966 Star Trek"....series with upgraded visual effects), or...."Warner Brothers"...(who remastered...."Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut" with upgraded effects a decade ago.)

Universal Studios either intentionally or unintentionally suffers from a...."Reality Disconnect"....from everything it does media speaking with the...."1978 Battlestar Galactica"....series. Film doesn't degrade and colors don't lose their vibrancy if movies are taken care of in the first place and properly stored in moisture free environments by movie studios. These neophytes who really didn't know what they were doing in the first place were also faced with the impossibly extra burden of trying to clean up..."Saga of a Star World"....(Battlestar's pilot episode)....after Universal Studios hadn't been taking care of and storing it properly for 37 years. The film degradation and loss of color vibrancy was due to Universal Studios intentional neglect more than likely. Given their historically bad attitude towards..."Battlestar 1978"....across the entire spectrum of..."You name it".....

1....And where is the still missing footage (lots of it) to..."Saga of a Star World?" Particularly the scene where Starbuck confronts Col. Tigh on the bridge demanding to know why the Galactica pulled out of battle.

2...and Adama announcing..."General Quarters"....in addition to...."Battle Stations Drill"....

3..and Rigel announcing space distances never heard regularly...."Enemy closing 85 Microns"....

4...and the entire subplot involving the..."Ovion Queen"....

With a Watered Down And Thoroughly Bland Brand Name (Station Name) Like "SyFy", Is It Any Wonder Why Nothing This Network Puts On The Air Resonates With The Public?

Yes, many moons ago this used to be a..."Science Fiction Channel"....

...Until a clown car came along filled with business buffoons (from Universal Studios) who turned this channel into an ambiguous...can't be nailed down in identity definition....watered down.....bland saturated.....imagination starved....good idea starved.....channel about nothing....nothing important....nothing in particular....cable network....that feeds on its own feces of watered down and bland ambiguity in everything it does.

To this channel...Science Fiction is nothing more than a punch line of served up piping hot garbage and cliches dispensed at a drive-thru window with nary a customer in sight.

What this channel always tries to pass off as Science Fiction really isn't Science Fiction because once what was formerly (Science Fiction) emerges from the anal end of the..."SyFy Corporate Meat Grinder"....it turns into cliché saturated....stereotype saturated ("our programming is for geeks")....watered down, dumbed down....bad ideas galore...stolen ideas galore...crappy attempts at Science Fiction.

Every other (shudder) type of programming this channel fails at is a catastrophe as well. "C.S.I." reruns...lame brained movies from the "USA Film Vaults"...wrestling.....a game show for alcoholics...horror movies. None of this garbage sticks to the wall and makes a favorable, lasting impression because at some point during the evolution of the (shudder) corporate consciousness of the SyFy Channel....it was decided either intentionally or unintentionally that talented and imaginative people would not be lured to the channel for hiring. Certainly a pre-requisite for putting attractive and compelling programming on the air mass market audiences would be drawn to.

One gets the impression(s) that the idiots who work in the programming department of the SyFy Channel got there through...

1. Nepotism
2. Networking
3. Stumbling into a job
4. Mutual cynicism towards all things Science Fiction
5. Laziness
6. Arrogance

...and not through a genuine love or knowledge of all encompassing Science Fiction.

This channel (SyFy) has always had the overpowering stench of...."I know someone of someone else of so and so who got me a job at SyFy. As for Science Fiction....I hate it!!"
