CSI On SyFy...Say That Lots of Times In Public and You Would Be Considered Drunk
http://www.syfy.com
The SyFy Channel has been a nutty cable network ever since the "Universal Studios Black Tower" bought it and started mismanaging it 15 years ago. Never locking in what its on-air identity is supposed to be (even after 15 years)....i.e...."Animal Planet"...."ESPN"...."Comedy Central"....etc. The SyFy Channel (and when it was still called "Sci-Fi" under Universal Studios) instead, has been nothing but a smorgasbord of clashing programming formats with the format of actual Science Fiction always pushed off to both sides of visual distance periphery while every other programming format plus the kitchen sink always taking center stage instead...i.e....."Wrestling"...."Cooking Shows"...."Z-Grade Horror Movies"...etc.
The recent splurge of CSI reruns on the SyFy Channel reaffirms the failures of this network on multiple levels:
1. The SyFy Channel's failure to be a Science Ficton channel.
2. The SyFy Channel's failure to lock in a specific and discernible on-air identity.
3. The SyFy Channel's failure to understand and turn "Battlestar Galactica" into a "Star Wars" and "Star Trek" sized media empire with its accomplice...the walking wrecking ball to all things Science Fiction and especially "Battlestar Galactica"....known as Ronald D. Moore.
4. The unlikelihood of the SyFy Channel ever course correcting and actually locking in a singular and discernible on-air identity for itself.
I have come to realize that the SyFy Channel hasn't just been a failure at being a Science Fiction channel and a Science Fiction programmer. It also sucks at being a television programmer for everything else they try to tackle as well...i.e..."Wrestling"....Cooking Shows"...."Horror Movies"...."Ghost Shows"..."The Wil Wheaton Fiasco"...."Reality Shows." You name it. The SyFy Channel has tried it and has sucked at all of it....big time!!
It's as though the schedule programmers for the SyFy Channel are the worst in the business at what they try to do.

And When It Comes to Horror Movies, Is This the "Programming Department" Of The SyFy Channel?
The...."Discount DVD Bin"....at Wal-Mart.
Yes, it appears that in between the original...wretched productions....of...."Asylum films".....This is where the SyFy Channel gets the bulk of its horror movies.

The SyFy Channel continues to wobble along with paralysis in its lazy, wretched, and uninspired programming decisions.

One Of The Great Mysteries Of The Universe Is That In The Midst Of An Obvious "Career Killing Advertising Campaign" Like This...
http://www.Syfy.com
...The people who came up with this drivel at the SyFy Channel still had their jobs at the SyFy Channel after coming up with this misfired advertising campaign....
In the entire history of civilization...If any advertising campaign screamed...."Careers will get torpedoed as a result of this ludicrous and misfired advertising campaign"....
....IT IS THIS ONE!!!....
The SyFy Channel hasn't even lived up to its promise of...."Inflatable Circus Animals"....as depicted in this campaign. The fiends!!

If Anyone Can Figure Out The On-Air Identity Of This Mysterious Cable Channel Known As "SyFy" After Watching This Promo, He Or She Gets a Lollipop!!

My best educated guess...."The Ringling Brothers Big Top Circus / Wild Animal Balloons / Professional Wrestling / Crappy Horror Movies / Professional Lawn Service (the sprinkler) / Automatic Car Alarm / 'Studio 54' " ....Cable Channel!!....Fits conveniently in your pocket!!
Is that the SyFy Channel in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?
What I astutely and collectively referred to earlier as the....."What?".....channel.
Cherry flavored lollipop!!...."Yum-Yum!!".......

Brandon Stoddard Has Passed Away. The Man Who Cancelled The "1978 Battlestar Galactica" Series And Leslie Nielsen's "Police Squad" Series
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/24/business/media/brandon-stoddard-77-abc-executive-who-brought-roots-to-tv-is-dead.html?nl=todaysheadlines&emc=edit_th_20141224&_r=0
The "1978 Battlestar Galactica" series was developed under Fred Silverman at ABC-TV when Silverman was still at the network. Unfortunately, Fred Silverman left ABC-TV in the Fall of 1978 to manage NBC-TV before "Battlestar Galactica's" premiere date. This prompted a swift regime change at ABC-TV with Brandon Stoddard moving up through the ranks to programming before the ABC-TV Fall season began. "Battlestar 1978" was one of the first casualties of a Brandon Stoddard managed ABC-TV as Mr. Stoddard simply didn't like the series. Evidently, Brandon Stoddard was always at odds with the late Glen A. Larson over the most idiotic details of "Battlestar 1978" inluding the casting of Dirk Benedict as Starbuck. I firmly believe that if Fred Silverman had stayed at ABC-TV during the first season of "Battlestar 1978" it would have seen a second season instead of only one, and "Battlestar 1978" would have been treated better overall that first season since "Battlestar 1978" was Fred Silverman's baby in terms of its development in the early stages, including the original plan of it being only a 7 hour mini series.
Moving on to 1982 Brandond Stoddard cancelled Leslie Nielsen's "Police Squad" series not because the ratings were necessarily low, but because in Brandon Stoddard's own words...."Police Squad required too much attention on the part of viewers to understand all of the visual sight gags, and Police Squad diverted too much attention away from the commercials."
My condolences of course go out to Brandon Stoddard's family, but in terms of Brandon Stoddard's work ethic at ABC-TV beginning 36 years ago, I remain slack jawed....stunned....and deeply disappointed in some of his decisions. Some "Red Flag" events in terms of judgement remain in Brandon Stoddard's work history at ABC-TV. His cancellations of "Battlestar 1978" and "Police Squad" among them.

Why Is The SyFy Channel Always Going In The Opposite Direction Of What Its Management Is Claiming?
http://www.fastcocreate.com/3031900/syfys-head-of-programming-on-carving-out-an-identity-in-a-world-gone-genre
1. The SyFy Channel has never carved out an identity for itself in the entire 15 or so years it has been owned by the cretins at Universal Studios and when it was in its last days of being called...."Sci-Fi"....under Universal Studios umbrella.
2. It has never become a...."Space Based"....cable network under Universal Studios umbrella.
3. It always remains a...."Status Quo"....ambiguous in identity cable network no matter how often its management claims otherwise. On this very day (today)...SyFy Channel has been showing a "C.S.I." marathon non-stop. Are "C.S.I." reruns the weird first step in the SyFy Channel transforming itself into a ...."Space Based"....cable network? I didn't think so.
4. The SyFy Channel will always remain on the...."Status Quo Trajectory"....it is on because it is easy and lazy for its management to run the channel in this manner with an ambiguous on-air identity. And the SyFy Channel has no intention of investing the additional dollars necessary to attract genuine Science Fiction talent to its network in order to transform itself into the "something better" its management keeps claiming will happen in fake press release after fake press release.
5. In the article above, it clearly states that the SyFy Channel still has this stereotypical aversion to all things Science Fiction as all non-fans of the Science Fiction genre do. As I have stated many times previously, if this is corporate parent Universal Studios unshakable position on all things Science Fiction, then why did it buy a Science Fiction channel in the first place? Universal Studios had no business buying what it had a clear aversion towards from day one. What foolhardy corporation would have done this and why? Why purchase what would clearly cause you ongoing discomfort at the corporate level? For you the corporate parent to repeatedly say...."Yes, we bought a Science Fiction channel but we will never acknowledge that it is a Science Fiction channel." This has been Universal Studios position from day one. Absolute dysfunctional, corporate insanity. With the end result being....Universal Studios absolutely wrecked this channel and immediately began turning it into a train wreck the moment they bought it.
So, because of this ludicrous purchase of the former Sci-Fi Channel by Universal Studios 15 years ago, Universal Studios has had a series of television programmers in place, (Bonnie Hammer, David Howe, and Mark Stern) who all never did the quality job in programming they should have been doing all along on behalf of a Science Fiction channel, and instead have been doing (all of this time) a half assed, unacceptable job in television programming pulling this former once great network in a thousand different crappy directions at the same time (Wrestling, a Cooking Show, crappy horror movies, "Sharknado", Ronald D. Moore's ongoing crap, and truly wretched reality shows.)

Merry Christmas!! The SyFy Channel's Gift to Humanity During Christmas 2014 is Still Having No Clue as To Its Own On-Air Identity After 15 Years!! Merry Christmas Everybody!!
http://www.syfy.com
Merry Christmas Everybody....with a CSI marathon all day on Christmas Day!!
The SyFy Channel!! Still taking the Science Fiction out of what is supposed to be a Science Fiction channel!!
Thank God DVD technology exists for Science Fiction fans to stock up on their favorite movies and television shows. If it didn't exist, Science Fiction fans would be screwed because of the SyFy Channel!!
My proposal for a new name for this ambiguous identity cable channel....
WHAT?
Yes...Presenting the...."WHAT?"....Network
1. What? What is it? What is the on-air identity of this cable channel?
2. What? What is the dysfunctional management of this cable channel always thinking in everything they do?
3. What? CSI reruns on this cable channel?
4. What? Wrestling on this cable channel?
5. What? Another rotten Ronald D. Moore series just got greenlit on this cable channel?
6. What? What and why are new stinkeroo horror movies from "Asylum Films" always being greenlit for this cable channel?
7. What? There was a cooking show on this cable channel?
8. What? "Sharknado" is considered an annual event by this cable channel despite its annual low ratings?
9. What? "Helix" and "Z Nation" got renewed for second seasons despite low ratings?
10. What? Wil Wheaton and Ozzie Osbourne's son both had shows on this network? Who, what, when, where?...and perhaps most importantly.....why?
So...from the bottom of my heart with my deepest gratitude this yuletide season, I personally accept the SyFy Channel's gift to me....its ongoing identity crisis!!

Exploring The More Obvious Reasons Why Ronald D. Moore's "GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only) Series Was a Mass Market Flop. Primarily, "GINO" Was a Brutally Ugly, Visually Unattractive Series. And Ugly In Its Ideas and Characters
1. The ugliest, most repulsive, and most disgusting looking spaceship ever designed. In short, a piece of crap in appearance. I think the idea here was to design any disgusting looking hunk of junk and get it greenlit quickly, as long as it drastically differed in appearance to the beautiful looking "Battlestar" model from the...."1978 Battlestar Galactica Series"....
2. The leading character in a television series who always goes out of his way to frown and never smile is a character mass market audiences will never be drawn to and never want to spend time with every week. OK, the premise of "GINO" was dark, but the darkness was over done to the point of "GINO" preventing itself from ever attracting mass market viewership. The "GINO" series was doomed from day one not only from being a repulsive television series to mass market audiences, but also from being a repulsive television series NOT CANON with what "Battlestar Galactica" really is, the...."1978 Battlestar Galactica Series."
3. On top of that, there was rape, torture, betrayal, backstabbing, illegitimate sex and ultimately nothing of what the premise of "GINO" claimed to be....a "Battlestar Galactica" premise.
Rape, torture, betrayal, backstabbing, and illegitimate sex being the easiest forms of melodrama for the untalented scriptwriters of "GINO" to write. These forms of melodrama straight out of the...."Aaron Spelling Prime Time Playbook".....from the 1970s and 1980s. Aaron Spelling at least having the taste and class to depict these unfortunate events off screen as opposed to Ronald D. Moore.
And so, instead of being a.... "Multi-Billion Dollar Science Fiction Empire"....a decade later, or a worthy successor (canon) to the...."1978 Battlestar Galactica Series"....Ronald D. Moore's "GINO" series instead continues to...."rot"....on DVD languishing in http://amazon.com warehouses across the country with its DVD season sets heavily discounted.

This Could Have Been a Huge Selling "Battlestar Galactica" Book
http://www.amazon.com/Battlestar-Galactica-Vault-Complete-1978-2012/dp/1781313350/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1419098876&sr=1-1&keywords=battlestar+vault
Instead, (according to Amazon.com) it immediately went out of print on the day of its scheduled release!! (Low Sales)
I'll tell you why as to why it probably went out of print on the very day of its scheduled release...
1. You cannot combine the "1978 Battlestar Galactica Series" and Ronald D. Moore's "GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only) Series into one book because Ronald D. Moore's crap "GINO" series is not "Battlestar Galactica." Moore's "GINO" series instead, ultimately turned out to be an inconsistent and incoherent mish-mash (a mess) of badly written and fragmented story ideas he wanted to do on "Star Trek", written in a...."Making it up as he went along"....scriptwriting style. Even worse, the limited production budget of "GINO" dictated and demanded not an out of this world and exotic world environment (as was successfully pulled off in the "1978 Battlestar Galactica Series"), but rather a contemporary present day setting with present day location work in Vancouver with present day contraptions (cars, eyeglasses, apartment buildings) all over the place. I have a hunch that if Ronald D. Moore ever comes to his senses and looks back on what an embarrassing disaster his "GINO" series was, his commentary on what he did would probably be...."I hate to say that I was young at the time...but, I was young and very very naive."
2. If Ronald D. Moore's "GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only) series was such a huge hit critically and financially, why hasn't it spawned a multi-billion dollar Science Fiction empire a decade later? With Moore's "GINO" series being the huge behemoth at the core of it? Instead, Ronald D. Moore's "GINO" series sits in the graveyard with all of his other failed tv series...."Caprica"...."17th Precinct"...."G vs. E"....."Helix" (Yes it's a flop because the SyFy Channel never acknowledges its flops. Just look at "Z Nation" as well.) And what the SyFy Channel considers successes for themselves would be considered flops by everyone else in the real business world, where the SyFy Channel has never existed mentally.
3. One of the supplements (goodies...if you want to call it that) included in this book is a sheet of notebook paper of some sort with the edges cut off into angles....with some sort of meaningless gibberish on it. Remember this? The great...."Notebook Paper Debacle"....of Ronald D. Moore's "GINO" - (Galacticas in Name Only) series where both Moore and David Eick were bragging about this great new Science Fiction idea they had come up with?
"Notebook paper with the edges cut off into angles!!"
WOW!! Give both guys Emmy Awards for that one!!
What grade school kids have been doing since the dawn of time in "Arts & Crafts" classes Ronald D. Moore and Davod Eick tried to take credit for. Appalling!!
4. Remember also how....Ronald D. Moore and David Eick... tried to take credit for inventing the phrase..."So Say We All?" Just one problem. The phrase is in a second season episode of "Space: 1999" from 1976...has been used in courtroom proceedings for decades long before Ronald D. Moore and David Eick came along...and dates back to centuries in the teens.
5. Also remember how, Ronald D. Moore tried to label himself as the...."Creator"....and...."Recreator" of "Battlestar Galactica" until both the late Glen A. Larson and the Writer's Guild had to get after him. Hopefully, Glen A. Larson's surviving family is staying on top of this.
6. What Universal Studios needs to do, is publish a clean "Battlestar Galactica" coffee table book (hard cover) without Ronald D. Moore's nonsense included in it. Devoted exclusively to the.... "1978 Battlestar Galactica Series".....what "Battlestar Galactica" is, always has been, and always and only will be.

And The Lost Scenes From "Saga of a Star World", The Pilot Episode of The "1978 Battlestar Galactica Series" Just Keep Coming
Shortly after Commander Adama informs Colonel Tigh on the bridge that he intends to resign from the council, there is a scene (some of it salvaged on the "Galactica - Complete Epics Series DVD Set" from 2003, but still not there in its entirety) where Counselor Anton protests Adama's resignation from the council. Anton also simultaneously berates Sire Uri for hoarding food in the midst of starvation. These two simultaneous conversations then merge into the discussion of the fleet stopping on the planet "Carillon" for food and fuel, with Captain Apollo charting on the star map the route that should be taken. The picture above depicts Counselor Anton approving of the stop on "Carillon." The scene depicted in the picture probably occurs after Apollo leaves with Starbuck and Boomer in tow.
Commander Adama and Colonel Tigh fear the route they are taking may be a trap.
Commander Adama studies the ancient writings of Earth.

Word To The Wise: Never Trust a "SyFy Channel Executive" With a Naked Monkey Statue In His Office Holding a Lamp Shade In Its Mouth
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/syfys-dave-howe-new-strategy-755056
And never trust anything "SyFy Channel Executives" have to say...period!!
Oh look!! One of those "SyFy Channel Executives" have popped up once again promising much better horizons for the SyFy Channel which will ultimately yield nothing. This crappy channel remains the same no matter how many promises are made from its staff promising greener pastures. The SyFy Channel has logged a good decade of these"Fake Press Releases" promising this and that from its completely useless and thoroughly disposable programming department. Yet the..."Status Quo B.S."....at this thoroughly useless cable network always stays the same. "Sharknado" always remains on the air, as does wrestling...as does its thoroughly useless television series ("Helix", "Z Nation") that never should have made it past the...."Audience Test Phase"....if only the...."Laws of Justice within The Universe"....were functioning normally at the SyFy Channel.
What I find truly fascinating (and what should be the punch line (s) of this article) is that after being with the SyFy Channel for 12 years....David Howe still hasn't learned.....
1. How to entertain mass market audiences.
2. How to entertain a Science Fiction audience.
3. That he is still unable to define what Science Fiction is.
4. That he has never been offered another job in television domestically and internationally.
5. That programming like...."Sharknado"...is indeed crap and is not virtuous in any way.
6. That crap like...."Sharknado"....is not....an "Annual Event."
7. That it is always an embarrassment to refer to Ronald D. Moore's "GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only) series in any context.
8.
