Farewell, Mr. Spock. The Great Leonard Nimoy Has Passed Away

Leonard Nimoy leaves behind the greatest character (he created) in all of Science Fiction. Who hasn't wanted to be just like Mr. Spock? To be able to handle any crisis in life with calm, cool logic. To be able to rationalize your way through any unsettling, divisive, uncomfortable, or awkward situation. Despite his human half, the character of Mr. Spock had such a strong sense of who he was and the life he lived in...he could neutralize any chaotic situation he was confronted with, with an equally powerful and opposing force of logical thinking to harmonize every challenge.

This was the genius of Leonard Nimoy as an actor. His creation of the Mr. Spock character gave all of us Star Trek fans someone we all wished we could be and ought to be. And this is why Leonard Nimoy's Spock character has a global fan following to this day. If every person in life were just like Mr. Spock, our history and present status of existence would be a lot less bloody.

Farewell, Leonard Nimoy. Thank you for the immortal character you created.

1. Lorne Michaels and his talent scouts lost the ability to recruit new and compelling comedic talent decades ago.

2. Guest hosts that are never hip, funny, or the slightest bit interesting....for decades.

3. Cast members increasingly nameless, faceless, and without comedic talent...for decades.

4. The SNL writing staff ....."Sucking Donkey Balls"....in the talentless writing department.... for decades.

5. Never any more memorable and iconic comedic characters being dreamed up by Lorne Michaels, his writing staff, and his cast members.

The SyFy Channel would love everyone to believe that after being a wildly successful cable network for the past 15 years...such success has spun itself off into having its logo (brand name) stamped on such products as....video games.....underwear.....produce.....sporting goods.....fast food.....Ipods......gardening supplies....etc. But as everyone in the real world can testify to....there are no...."SyFy Channel Products"....of any sort littering store shelves of any kind anywhere in the world. The brand name...."SyFy"....(circa 2015) remains solely affixed to the....badly managed generic cable network....it has always been affixed to since 1999. With no branching off into consumer land as the SyFy Channel has claimed many times in the past....primarily in the video game realm.

After 15 years however, of being nothing more than a badly managed generic cable network occasionally dipping its toes in the waters of Science Fiction and sucking at it really badly....the SyFy Channel remains what it always has been just as it was when it first started 15 years ago....A below the radar blip in NBC-Universal's business portfolio that occasionally...."beeps"....in heartbeat mode letting everyone at NBC-Universal know that it is still alive and still there always on the brink of cardiac arrest. As time unfortunately went on for this series that should have cancelled at...."Day One"....It gradually mutated (through the utter intellectual and conceptual laziness of Ronald D. Moore and his production crew) into a present day (set on Earth) hodgepodge of gangster melodrama....soap opera....love crap....violent / rape....claptrap....with contemporary settings and wardrobe clearly set right here on Earth.

Anyone watching this series at the time (all 300 of its total viewers worldwide) were utterly convinced that they were not watching...."Battlestar Galactica".....supposedly set in outer space thousands of light years from instead...but instead....were watching the most astonishing example of production laziness ever seen in a television series....Gangsters....Whores.....Rape Victims....Infanticide....set in contemporary...."Elliot Ness".....territory....with an ever rotating menu of claptrap set here....on present day Earth complete with apartment buildings, automobiles, eyeglasses, nighties....etc. Using the...."Battlestar Galactica"....title only. Why Is The SyFy Channel Always Instinctively Drawn To "Science Fiction Box Office Failures" From The Past For Programming Ideas?

A box office flop from the late 1990s starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. Yeah OK, it had a somewhat interesting time travel premise with superstar Bruce Willis in the lead and not yet superstar Brad Pitt. But let's look at the bottom line. IT FLOPPED AT THE BOX OFFICE. Not surprisingly, the SyFy Channel's version of...."12 Monkeys".....is FLOPPING in the ratings. Any neophyte with a brain in his head could have seen this disaster coming a mile away:

Unsuccessful Movie Will Always = Unsuccessful television series....especially in Science Fiction.

The..."12 Monkeys".....concept simply doesn't appeal to mass market audiences in the movies and on television.

If the SyFy Channel simply had competent business people working for them, this disaster could have been avoided by not making...."12 Monkeys".....into a television series.

Helix -

In its first season at least, heavily (and I mean heavily) inspired by....."John Carpenter's Thing Movie"....from 1982. As great as John Carpenter's movie was, let's look at the bottom line. IT FLOPPED AT THE BOX OFFICE. So....why make a slight variation of it into a television series? The inevitable result? ...."Helix"....is also suffering from low ratings.


GINO - (Galactica In Name Only)

Ronald D. Moore's....."Cess Pool Catastrophe".....known as.....GINO - (Galactica In Name Only)....was allegedly a reboot of...."Battlestar Galactica".... . So claimed SyFy Channel and Ronald D. Moore initially.

What it was instead (this info eventually came out)....was....

1. Ronald D. Moore's.....Wet Dream Version".....of how he felt....."Star Trek: Voyager".....should have been. With smut, sleaze, and supremely unappealing characters across the board.

And....

2. A continuation of the....."Blade Runner Universe".....as eventually admitted to by Edward James Olmos.

Partially basing a television series on Ridley Scott's.... BOX OFFICE FLOP......"Blade Runner"....from 1982?? Why? A failed business venture in one particular format will also always fail in a different format.

The "12 Monkeys" TV Show Is Looking For a Virus, and The "Helix" TV Show is Also Looking For a Virus. Maybe Both TV Shows Should Join Forces and Start Looking In The Most Obvious Place
