Known collectively as...

1. The one-note character actor who frowned in Ronald D. Moore's..."GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only) series....

2. The one-note character actor who frowned in...."Miami Vice"....

3. The one-note character actor who frowned in...."Blade Runner"....

Look, Edward James Olmos never had leading man potential. The guy is a frowner. Edward James Olmos is an unremarkable character actor who quite frankly...."Frowns"....in 95% of everything he is cast in. I think every role is just a paycheck to him. He shows up on stage....and just..."Frowns"....

Edward James Olmos did nothing to dethrone the legendary Lorne Greene as the great Commander Adama. The late Lorne Greene will always be Commander Adama and no one else.

Dare I say it? Lorne Greene as Commander Adama had more of a majestic, formidable, multi-dimensional, and warm screen presence than Alec Guinness ever did as Obi Wan Kenobi. You can't replace that with anybody. There, I said it. OK? 

I still look up to Lorne Greene with awe every time I watch...."Battlestar 1978"....reruns. 

As for Edward James Olmos, he does nothing for me as an actor. He's a frowner. A low-tier character actor.

Excuse me...Wasn't the SyFy Channel supposed to be a..."Science Fiction / Fantasy"....channel all along without interruption regardless of the highs and lows in Science Fiction programming on the other cable networks?

Why are the other cable networks dictating to what degree Science Fiction programming appears on the SyFy Channel? This idiotic channel (SyFy) is supposed to be a Science Fiction and Fantasy channel around the clock regardless of what the other cable networks are doing and regardless of highs and lows in marketing trends.

Why did the SyFy Channel get away from Science Fiction programming in the first place? (Rhetorical) Why did Universal purchase a Science Fiction channel in the first place with no intention of following through with the identity of that channel? (Rhetorical) Why is the SyFy Channel always looking to everyone but themselves to guide their channel? (Rhetorical) Why has the SyFy Channel been a mess all along and a mess from day one? (Rhetorical)

Even as the SyFy Channel tries to bring itself into alignment with the other cable channels with its own attempts at Science Fiction and Fantasy ("Killjoys")....it's becoming painfully clear that they just aren't very good at it.

Was it an ad campaign for...."Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus"....coming to town? A commercial for a toy store selling nothing but...."Animal Balloons?"......A commercial for an...."Illegal Narcotic".... being shared by all of the neighbors? And all of the neighbors are..."Tripping"...

One thing is certain. This ad campaign was an absolute mess of incoherence and...."not hitting the broadside of a barn"....of whatever the SyFy Channel was aiming for with this ad campaign. 

I suspect the SyFy Channel finally admitted to themselves that they didn't even know what they were getting at with this ad campaign....and just turned the channel into a...."Lazy Ass General Interest Cable Channel"....with wrestling,..."C.S.I."....reruns....and crappy horror movies....as a result.

Shameful Moments in SyFy Channel History #3: Gutting Science Fiction From The Channel and Replacing It With "Lazy Ambiguity" and Wrestling

The SyFy Channel is a curious blend of wrestling and..."On-Air Identity Ambiguity"....the rest of the time. Its website continues to look like a..."Shake & Bake Sears Roebuck Catalog"....combined with last minute spur of the moment programming decisions. A channel without a discernible on-air identity highlighted with slipshod grab bag programming formats across the board.

I suspect when Universal purchased this channel back in the late 1990's, it was part of a bulk purchase with other minor cable networks...with Universal giving no thought to the fact that they had just purchased a Science Fiction channel...with the responsibility involved in that purchase of running the channel as a Science Fiction channel. So, Universal has mismanaged this channel just like they mismanage everything else having to do with Science Fiction and...."Battlestar Galactica"....They assigned the wrong people to the job of managing what was supposed to be Science Fiction channel. People who always take the easy way out in everything they do. Gutting what was supposed to be a Science Fiction channel all along...Replacing it with an ambiguous basic cable network showing wrestling one moment...and..."C.S.I."....reruns the next.

SyFy is a...."Trash Cable Network"....with no on-air identity to speak of. Flirting with..."Maury Povich-esque"...."Lowest Common Denominator"....crap television programming. And Science Fiction is long gone from this troubled network. 

How's that for...."Brand Filters"....?

Shameful Moments in SyFy Channel History #2: The Drastic Overestimation of "GINO's" - (Galactica In Name Only) Popularity

Back in 2008, the SyFy Channel got the truly bizarre and eccentric idea of having the cast members from Ronald D. Moore's..."GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only).... series appear on David Letterman's late night show and recite one of his...."Top 10 Lists".... Unfortunately, it didn't go well at all. Going into its inexplicable fourth season after three low rated previous season...."GINO"....was still unknown to the mass market television audience (David Letterman's audience.) As a result, the..."GINO"...cast members were snickered at by Dave's audience, in addition to being met with bouts of awkward silence right off the bat. Heck, an off camera stage hand had to rally Dave's audience into applause with a clearly audible...."Yeah!!"....at the very beginning of this truly embarrassing segment of Dave's show because Dave's audience sure as hell weren't going to applaud the..."GINO"....cast members on their own.

No matter how many times you watch it....it clearly is extremely embarrassing to watch yet you feel no sympathy for the..."GINO"....cast members at all.

The..."GINO"....cast members had no business being on Dave's show because..."GINO"....was not a popular show to begin with...except with the SyFy Channel corporate employees and their tiny group of elite friends. A show still unknown to the masses at the conclusion of its low rated third season was out of place on Dave's show.
