"We are in the process of going out to directors and the hope is to attach a director and start prepping the movie this year," Kinberg said. "It's a megillah, humongous film and the prep will be a very long prep period so I would imagine even if we attached a director today it would take six, nine months to prep this movie properly. So at the earliest, we'd be shooting at the end of this year. We'd probably be shooting at the beginning of next year. Time will tell who the director is and then you or someone else will tell who the director is."
We are at the end of the very year Simon Kinberg claimed his production was to start filming. If this were the case, all pre-production, prep work, and casting would have been done by now. Yet once again, as is always the case with these alleged..."Battlestar"....productions claimed by...."Universal Studios"....there is no physical proof that ANYTHING has ever been done. Whether it be pre-production, any prep, casting, physical construction of anything. No proof of any physical construction of any kind having been done.
The reality of film production in...."Hollywood"....is, any film that is this (allegedly) so on the brink of starting filming, would have (at the very least) released casting information long before now.

So, as of August 29th, 2022....almost two years after Simon Kinberg's initial announcement, we don't even know who would allegedly be directing this alleged film. Even when this alleged production is so allegedly on the brink of beginning to film.
We don't even know that either, in addition to not knowing who has allegedly been cast in this thing.
