There Is No Need To Remake "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" Since Perfection Was Already Achieved By Walt Disney With This Classic 1954 Film

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/20,000_Leagues_Under_the_Sea_(1954_film)

There is no need for anyone to wait around for Bryan Singer to not make his version. And his version will indeed not get make. His track record with his previous claims of making films and ultimately not making them (documented in this bog) is proof enough that this film will never see the light of day...

http://www.geek.com/news/bryan-singer-following-x-men-apocalypse-with-20000-leagues-under-the-sea-1634490/

Even if it did get made...What would the morbid curiosity seekers discover about this Bryan Singer film? Patrick Stewart as Captain Nemo? Hugh Jackman his second in command? Some pointless and inappropriate reference to..."The Holocaust"....having nothing to do with the original novel and classic 1954 film?

Shameful Moments In SyFy Channel History #11: Trying To Pass Off Alcoholism As a Game Show

http://www.syfy.com/geekswhodrink

Let's just spit it out here and now and be absolutely blunt right off the bat. This channel has tried every sleazy and underhanded quickie programming stunt in the book from day one because it has failed repeatedly since day one to be a Science Fiction channel.

This channel which used to be an actual Science Fiction channel (a good one!!) in the early to mid-1990's was eventually and unfortunately bought by the idiots at.... "GE/Vivendi/Comcast-Universal"....who didn't think about what they were buying before the purchase and didn't consider that purchasing a 24 hour round the clock Science Fiction channel carries with it the responsibility of managing the channel as a 24 hour round the clock Science Fiction channel. Always too stupid to realize the error in their purchase of this channel, Universal proceeded for the next two decades to... prat-fall...fu** up....deface....and...massacre....this channel with a steady trajectory of erosion that has gone exactly like this:

1. Initially failing at being a Science Fiction channel because the idiots at Universal didn't like Science Fiction, and didn't have the..... imagination.... talent.... and.... inspired thinking... to manage a Science Fiction channel. Once this caused them to not make decent money with the former Sci-Fi Channel, Universal began tinkering (fu**ing up) the format of the channel by turning it into a crappy, general interest cable channel in order to make it easier for them to manage (laziness) with the full realization that the channel would never be a huge moneymaker for them due to the brain dead staff Universal put in there to manage it with no intention of ever removing this brain dead staff. Which led to...

2. Every lazy and cheapo programming stunt imaginable being put on this former and once great Science Fiction channel. Wrestling, non-Science Fiction films from the Universal Studios film vaults, "C.S.I." reruns, sham psychics (John Edward), alcoholism (Geeks Who Drink), crappy horror movies on a low budget.

3. Of all the talented and former Rick Berman era "Star Trek" producers and writers SyFy Channel could have chose to partner with (Brannon Braga, Michael Piller, Rick Berman himself, Maurice Hurley, Jeri Taylor, Ira Steven Behr)....to attempt.... "Battlestar Galactica"....they instead inexplicably chose the least talented of the group (Ronald D. Moore.) The underwhelming results of..."GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only) speak for themselves as does the series permanent place in the..."Wal-Mart $5.00 Discount DVD bin."

Which all leads to the present and sad state of the SyFy Channel. Resorting to alcoholism poorly disguised as a game show to try and lure in a few droppings of viewers here and there because the channel has failed at everything else.

Shameful Moments In SyFy Channel History #10: SyFy Channel Thinking They Could Ever Compete With "The Walking Dead" With a Paltry $750,000.00 Per Episode Budget

http://www.tv.com/shows/z-nation/community/post/z-nation-season-2-episode-1-premiere-the-murph-review-144192713196/

Shameful Moments In SyFy Channel History #9: Why Does Every SyFy Channel Show Reviewed Have The Following Assessment? "Yes, The Show Sucks But It's a Great Way To Blow-Off a Friday Night."

http://www.tv.com/shows/z-nation/community/post/z-nation-season-2-episode-1-premiere-the-murph-review-144192713196/

This consistent and recurring problem in all of the SyFy Channel shows isn't cute, funny, clever..."wink, wink"....brilliant, or a badge of honor of any sort. It also isn't any sort of encouragement to want to watch any of these stupid shows. It's just plain bad programming from bad television programmers working for the SyFy Channel.

Shameful Moments In SyFy Channel History #8: Not Only Failing To Be a Science Fiction Channel, But Also Being a Hodgepodge Of a "John Doe Cable Network"

Isn't It Interesting? The Number of "Fake Science Fiction Projects" Bryan Singer Has Announced And Never Completed Thus Far In His Lifetime...

....Roughly equals the number of actual Science Fiction projects J.J. Abrams has actually completed thus far in his lifetime...

All hail the..."King of Science Fiction" (J.J. Abrams)....in the photo above

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0009190/

1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
2. Star Trek: Into Darkness
3. Star Trek
4. Super 8
5. Cloverfield
6. Lost
7. Dead People
8. West World
9. Portal
10. Half Life
11. Star Trek Beyond (filming)
12. Star Trek IV (announced)

There must be some..."Cosmic Duality"....at work here in our universe. J.J. Abrams gets everything done in Science Fiction he announces....while Bryan Singer gets nothing done in Science Fiction he announces. A perfect sphere, perhaps?

I'll continue to get my Science Fiction entertainment from J.J. Abrams. At least he is reliable.

Shameful Moments in SyFy Channel History #6: Edward James Olmos is Not a Leading Man

Known collectively as...

1. The one-note character actor who frowned in Ronald D. Moore's..."GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only) series....

2. The one-note character actor who frowned in...."Miami Vice"....

3. The one-note character actor who frowned in...."Blade Runner"....

Look, Edward James Olmos never had leading man potential. The guy is a frowner. Edward James Olmos is an unremarkable character actor who quite frankly...."Frowns"....in 95% of everything he is cast in. I think every role is just a paycheck to him. He shows up on stage....and just..."Frowns"....

Edward James Olmos did nothing to dethrone the legendary Lorne Greene as the great Commander Adama. The late Lorne Greene will always be Commander Adama and no one else.

Dare I say it? Lorne Greene as Commander Adama had more of a majestic, formidable, multi-dimensional, and warm screen presence than Alec Guinness ever did as Obi Wan Kenobi. You can't replace that with anybody. There, I said it. OK?

I still look up to Lorne Greene with awe every time I watch...."Battlestar 1978"....reruns.

As for Edward James Olmos, he does nothing for me as an actor. He's a frowner. A low-tier character actor.

Shameful Moments in SyFy Channel History #5: The SyFy Channel Waiting For The Other Cable Networks To Set The Trend in Science Fiction / Fantasy Programming...

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/syfys-plan-more-space-operas-687454

....before it proceeds on its own to do the same....

Excuse me...Wasn't the SyFy Channel supposed to be a..."Science Fiction / Fantasy"....channel all along without interruption regardless of the highs and lows in Science Fiction programming on the other cable networks?

Why are the other cable networks dictating to what degree Science Fiction programming appears on the SyFy Channel? This idiotic channel (SyFy) is supposed to be a Science Fiction and Fantasy channel around the clock regardless of what the other cable networks are doing and regardless of highs and lows in marketing trends.

Why did the SyFy Channel get away from Science Fiction programming in the first place? (Rhetorical) Why did Universal purchase a Science Fiction channel in the first place with no intention of following through with the identity of that channel? (Rhetorical) Why is the SyFy Channel always looking to everyone but themselves to guide their channel? (Rhetorical) Why has the SyFy Channel been a mess all along and a mess from day one? (Rhetorical)

Even as the SyFy Channel tries to bring itself into alignment with the other cable channels with its own attempts at Science Fiction and Fantasy ("Killjoys")....it's becoming painfully clear that they just aren't very good at it.

Shameful Moments in SyFy Channel History #4: The SyFy Channel's Incomprehensible 2009 Ad Campaign

http://www.syfy.com

Was it an ad campaign for...."Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus"....coming to town? A commercial for a toy store selling nothing but...."Animal Balloons?"......A commercial for an...."Illegal Narcotic".... being shared by all of the neighbors? And all of the neighbors are..."Tripping"...

One thing is certain. This ad campaign was an absolute mess of incoherence and...."not hitting the broadside of a barn"....of whatever the SyFy Channel was aiming for with this ad campaign.

I suspect the SyFy Channel finally admitted to themselves that they didn't even know what they were getting at with this ad campaign....and just turned the channel into a...."Lazy Ass General Interest Cable Channel"....with wrestling,..."C.S.I."....reruns....and crappy horror movies....as a result.

Shameful Moments in SyFy Channel History #3: Gutting Science Fiction From The Channel and Replacing It With "Lazy Ambiguity" and Wrestling

http://www.syfy.com

The SyFy Channel is a curious blend of wrestling and..."On-Air Identity Ambiguity"....the rest of the time. Its website continues to look like a..."Shake & Bake Sears Roebuck Catalog"....combined with last minute spur of the moment programming decisions. A channel without a discernible on-air identity highlighted with slipshod grab bag programming formats across the board.

I suspect when Universal purchased this channel back in the late 1990's, it was part of a bulk purchase with other minor cable networks...with Universal giving no thought to the fact that they had just purchased a Science Fiction channel...with the responsibility involved in that purchase of running the channel as a Science Fiction channel. So, Universal has mismanaged this channel just like they mismanage everything else having to do with Science Fiction and...."Battlestar Galactica"....They assigned the wrong people to the job of managing what was supposed to be Science Fiction channel. People who always take the easy way out in everything they do. Gutting what was supposed to be a Science Fiction channel all along...Replacing it with an ambiguous basic cable network showing wrestling one moment...and..."C.S.I."....reruns the next.

SyFy is a...."Trash Cable Network"....with no on-air identity to speak of. Flirting with..."Maury Povich-esque"...."Lowest Common Denominator"....crap television programming. And Science Fiction is long gone from this troubled network.

How's that for...."Brand Filters"....?

We love 'ya...Bonnie!!

"Blue skies...upbeat...not dark?" - As in rape and snapping a babies neck in two episodes of Ronald D. Moore's... "GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only)....series? That sort of...."blue skies....upbeat....and...not dark....?" Hmmmm?

The SyFy Channel really has marketing geniuses working for them, doesn't it? They always forget what they just said. Because they have just moved on to the very next..."spur of the moment"...programming decision...Right?

Shameful Moments in SyFy Channel History #2: The Drastic Overestimation of "GINO's" - (Galactica In Name Only) Popularity

Back in 2008, the SyFy Channel got the truly bizarre and eccentric idea of having the cast members from Ronald D. Moore's..."GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only).... series appear on David Letterman's late night show and recite one of his...."Top 10 Lists".... Unfortunately, it didn't go well at all. Going into its inexplicable fourth season after three low rated previous season...."GINO"....was still unknown to the mass market television audience (David Letterman's audience.) As a result, the..."GINO"...cast members were snickered at by Dave's audience, in addition to being met with bouts of awkward silence right off the bat. Heck, an off camera stage hand had to rally Dave's audience into applause with a clearly audible...."Yeah!!"....at the very beginning of this truly embarrassing segment of Dave's show because Dave's audience sure as hell weren't going to applaud the..."GINO"....cast members on their own.

No matter how many times you watch it....it clearly is extremely embarrassing to watch yet you feel no sympathy for the..."GINO"....cast members at all.

The..."GINO"....cast members had no business being on Dave's show because..."GINO"....was not a popular show to begin with...except with the SyFy Channel corporate employees and their tiny group of elite friends. A show still unknown to the masses at the conclusion of its low rated third season was out of place on Dave's show.

Shameful Moments In SyFy Channel History #1: Ripping Off The "Seven of Nine" Character With "Six"

http://www.syfy.com

..."Six".... from Ronald D. Moore's..."GINO" - (Galactica In Name Only) series was..."Seven of Nine".... from..."Star Trek: Voyager".....in a cocktail dress.

1. Both characters have a numerical designation.

2. Both characters dress in slutty clothing to attract male viewers.

3. Both characters are instantly disposable and not vital to the story.

4. Both characters woo the male characters with sex appeal and create sexual anxiety for the male characters in the crew.

5. Ronald D. Moore worked on both shows that had both characters.

6. It hadn't been too long ago when Moore had just come off of the..."Rick Berman Star Trek Franchise"...when he at the time ripped off..."Seven of Nine"...with...."Six"....

7. The character just had to be named...."Six"....? Not Gladys or Cindy, or even something cosmic like....."Sapphire"....or...."Little Dipper"....?

8. Ronald D. Moore....made no attempt to hide his..."Star Trek"....affiliation when he whipped up...."GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only.) Even going as far as carrying over..."Star Trek Techno-Babble"....to...."GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only.) These are a few of the many reasons why this series permanent home is the...."Wal-Mart $5.00 Discount DVD Bin"....buried underneath copies of...."Bugs Bunny / Road Runner Hijinks"....and...."Night Court Fan Favorites"....

Lazy producing and script writing did in..."GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only)....long before it ever got out of the...."Starting Gate"....

Both the character and the show itself overall had absolutely nothing to do with...."Battlestar Galactica."....It's truly amazing (and ever so convenient for the interested parties) how little details like that got lost in the deal making.

They did swipe the title by the way. I will give them that!!

I Find It Interesting That Universal Studios Ongoing Issues With Science Fiction And "Battlestar Galactica" Can Always Be Broken Down To...

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/knight-rider-producer-glen-larson-821105

1. Owing other people lots of money.

2. Having no imagination or inspired thinking.

3. Making one crappy decision after another.

4. Owning Science Fiction properties they never should have owned in the first place ("Battlestar Galactica", "Knight Rider.")

5. Never modifying their approach to handling..."Battlestar Galactica".....and...."Knight Rider"....despite the fact that such unwillingness to change as a corporation leaves both properties..."Sleeping Giants"....decade after decade.

This is what...the fourth decade of all 5 I just listed and there are still ongoing problems at Universal Studios?

Rotate the...."Old Farts"....out and hire new management across the board at Universal Studios.
After four decades it's time to unclog the toilet at Universal Studios.

And read these books at another location where Universal Studios executives and its stealth marketers won't be able to post negative, misleading (stealth marketed) reviews of the books via them purchasing candy and Rogaine Foam on Amazon.com (allowing them access to the Amazon book review section) and not actually buying and reading the books. I'll leave the other 150 global locations under wraps for now.

Well..."Killjoys" Really Made a Favorable Impression On "Variety" Magazine, Didn't It?

All leather and zipper coats are left over from Ronald D. Moore's "GINO" - (Galactica In Name Only) series...a decade later. "Killjoys"...hasn't yet utilized Ronald D. Moore's huge fetish wardrobe for shirts and ties...left over from..."GINO"...and..."Caprica"....? I'm sure those business suits and accessories can be dug up again somewhere in the...Vancouver....area. Or replaced by the local retail outlets in the area that served Moore so well.
