Another Missing Scene From 'Saga of a Star World:' The 'Missing Cylon Tanker Sub-Plot'

 

'John Dykstra and his visual effects crew actually completed work involving a massive fuel tanker vessel planet-side. In the original narrative design, Starbuck was supposed to heroically pilot the massive, highly volatile, Tylium fuel tanker off the surface of Carillon and through a wave of Cylon attacks to help supply the fleet. Because the editing room had to truncate the Carillon segment heavily to adapt to the last-minute, weekly tv show pacing, this entire surface action sequence was abandoned. The Tylium was reduced to a plot device that Apollo and Starbuck simply blow up in the underground caverns at the end of the pilot.'
