For starters...
1. The box art sucks ass. On top of that, given Universal Studios historical troubles in properly managing the..."1978 Battlestar Galactica Series"...from any rational standpoint going back 40 consecutive years, it was clearly intentional..."Mismanagement Malevolence"...(once again)..on the part of Universal Studios which led to the box art being as deliberately unattractive as it was. Unattractive on purpose to keep unit sales low on purpose. Feeding into Universal Studios ongoing and totally inaccurate and fraudulent..."Corporate Based Mythology"....that the..."1978 Battlestar Galactica Series"...was a flop.
2. Widescreen issues - Universal Studios never could and never will properly master the technology of the current moment in releasing a technically flawless..."1978 Battlestar Galactica Series"...DVD / Blu-Ray set. For starters, the..."1978 Battlestar Galactica Series"...was never filmed in current widescreen ambitions,...(how could it have been back in 1978?)...unless someone at the time had a crystal ball to see into the future. Thus, the series is just fine as it is in full screen mode. To release this series properly in widescreen mode would require state of the art technicians that Universal Studios never did and never will have on its payroll. Universal Studios ( as usual, as always) settles for the next worst thing by having the widescreen process done by less than stellar technicians on its payroll. With cropped information at the top and the bottom of the screen.
3. The extras involved in these sets are embarrassing to say the least. Merely carrying over extras from the..."2003 Battlestar Galactica Complete Epic Series"...DVD set...which had its own severe set of technical and manufacturing issues / flaws covered earlier in this blog was and is unacceptable. Both Glen A. Larson and Richard Hatch were still alive in the extras carried over from the 2003 DVD set. To not even acknowledge both their passings in properly and newly produced extras for both of these Blu-Ray sets is criminal to say the least. Which is a mode of corporate behavior that Universal Studios is no stranger to. This corporation remains as..."Morally Vacuous"...as it always has been. Granting itself endless pardons to such behavior as it continues to limp along as a corporation...going back 40 years...presently, and into the future.
