How Much Longer Can a Channel As Boring As The "SyFy Channel" Possibly Survive?

The SyFy Channel has successfully proven (as laughably managed by Bonnie Hammer, David Howe, and Mark Stern), that the more ambiguous it has become, the more boring it has become also. Cable channels without a discernable on-air identity tend to be that way.

Of course, boredom hasn't been the SyFy Channel's only problem. Combine that with the channel's frequent mistakes in such areas as misinterpreting "Battlestar Galactica", having no love for the Science Fiction genre overall, favoring Horror over Science Fiction, and its reckless abandon in throwing any old thing on the air (Wrestling, the "Cape Fear" movie etc.), and you have a channel with no reason for really existing.

So, why is the SyFy Channel still hanging around? Why does it still insist on existing? Viewers can get wrestling from ESPN, the "Cape Fear" movie on DVD, all well done Science Fiction on DVD, and cooking shows on the Food Network, as well as cooking shows from Rachel Ray and Martha Stewart.

If the SyFy Channel was known for doing something....anything as innovative (and doing it well), then it would certainly justify its own existence. But to only (and repeatedly) offer viewers the same old types of shows that are always done much better everywhere else is certainly no reason for the SyFy Channel to still be hanging around.

In order to..."oh"....I don't know...Maybe give some updated information on the "Battlestar Galactica" movie he is supposed to be working on...announced on October 17th, 2011. Bryan Singer and the rest of the "Universal Studios / SyFy Channel Comedy Improv Group" are conspicuously absent from "Comic-Con 2012." I wonder why.

Interestingly (though thoroughly not surprising) "The Munsters" television pilot is apparently making more progress production wise than "Galactica" despite the fact that the "Battlestar Galactica" movie was announced a month earlier than "The Munsters."

Who Could Direct And Make An Outstanding "Battlestar Galactica" Movie? Shawn Levy

Although I didn't find "Night at The Museum" and "Night at The Museum 2: Battle For The Smithsonian" to be necessarily funny, Shawn Levy handled both large scale productions with ease and professionalism. As the director of both films, I tip my hat to him for directing both large scale productions within a close time span of one another. This guy can handle chaos on screen with all of the CGI and the hundreds of extras that go along with it like an old pro who has been directing for decades. Plus, both films were period piece costume dramas from many different eras. A nightmare unto itself from a production standpoint.

Forget Bryan Singer, who hasn't been able to pull himself together in directing a "Battlestar Galactica" movie for 11 years now (and counting.) If I were in charge of hiring a director to helm a "Battlestar Galactica" movie, not only would I not take Bryan Singer seriously for the job, but I would easily cast him aside and hire Shawn Levy, based solely upon his directorial achievements in "Night at The Museum 1 & 2." Shawn Levy could very easily handle the directorial complexities of a "Battlestar Galactica" movie and its sequel. Plus...it wouldn't take him 11 + years to pull himself together in order to do it.

1. No "Battlestar Galactica" movie in 2001.
2. No "Battlestar Galactica" movie in 2009.
3. (Very likely) No "Battlestar Galactica" movie in 2013.
4. No "2012" mini-series for the SyFy Channel.
5. (Very likely) No "Munsters" remake for NBC-TV.
6. (Very likely) No "Six Million Dollar Man" remake.
7. No smaller, non-genre projects of any sort between the two of them.
8. Not even a sitcom or an infomercial between the two  of them.

October 17th, 2011 - Official announcement from Universal Studios and Bryan Singer that work will commence immediately on a new "Battlestar Galactica" feature film.

October 17th 2011 - April 2, 2012: No further news other than a scriptwriter supposedly being hired, which is never really news at all everytime Universal Studios is involved.

We're moving into the 6 month mark as to when the both of you first announced this movie on October 17th, 2011.

Oh, I'm sorry!! Am I not supposed to keep bringing this up because it doesn't help the two of you in trying to con the public by repeatedly (and deliberately) not making this movie you keep announcing every two years?

I guess if I keep bringing this up, the official press release from October 17th, 2011 will never fade from anyone's memory. Oh darn!!
