1. The 1978 series was never a flop as Universal Studios has repeatedly contradicted with its ever present..."Anti-Battlestar 1978"...press machine existing on the Internet since the Internet began. It was instead, a victim of...
a. Universal Studios and ABC-TV not getting along with each other at the time which led to merchandising revenue conflicts between the two of them.
b. ABC-TV Programming Chief Brandon Stoddard simply not liking the series at the time. He replaced Fred Silverman just as the 1978-79 television season was beginning. "Battlestar" was developed under the Fred Silverman regime at ABC-TV who did like the series. (He helped develop it.) As Silverman went on to manage NBC-TV during that year, Brandon Stoddard who replaced Silverman killed..."Battlestar"...(on purpose)...with bad scheduling. Of course..."Battlestar's"...ratings were still high even with the bad scheduling. Stoddard cancelled it anyway.
This is the same Brandon Stoddard (idiot) who cancelled the Leslie Neilsen series..."Police Squad"...because he thought the sight gags in the series required too much concentration on the part of television viewers. And that the series was diverting too much attention away from the television commercials being broadcast on ABC-TV.
I don't recall ever hearing about Brandon Stoddard ever moving on to..."Bigger & Better Things"...in his career...ever.
2. Universal Studios has (during the past 39 years) carefully and deceitfully only ever allowed a miniscule post-cancellation cult audience to develop for the..."1978 Battlestar Galactica"...series through a series of consciously self aware bad business decisions on purpose to keep the..."1978 Battlestar Galactica"...series from returning (trumpets blazing) to its mainstream, mass market audience that has never left the show even after 39 years...
3. Ignoring (on purpose) the commercial climate currently created by..."Star Wars"...and..."Star Trek"...sequels currently sweeping our cinemas.
4. Ignoring (on purpose) the commercial climate created by..."Star Trek: The Next Generation"...and its four sequel series in the 1990's and 2000's.
5. Ignoring (on purpose) the..."1978 Battlestar Galactica"...series via Ronald D. Moore's horrid..."GINO" - (Galactica In Name Only)..series in the 2000's.
6. Since 2000, releasing a series of..."Fake Battlestar Movie Press Releases"...Bi-ennially that obviously never come to fruition on purpose...These fake press releases designed to DISCOURAGE the fans of the..."1978 Battlestar"...series from being fans of the show any further. It hasn't worked.
7. Releasing the..."Battlestar Galactica 1978"...."Ultimate"...and..."Definitive"....collections on Blu-Ray a few years back with deliberately unattractive box art to keep sales down ON PURPOSE which of course continues to feed into Universal Studios..."False Corporate Myth"...for 39 years that the..."1978 Battlestar Galactica"...series was a flop.
This overall post and list of course, will continue to be added on to.

Read the books Universal Studios has tried and failed to censor on Amazon.com...
http://www.languatron.freeforums.org/viewforum.php?f=60
And read the books at another location where Universal Studios executives and its stealth marketers won't be able to post negative, misleading (stealth marketed) reviews of the books via them purchasing candy and Rogaine Foam on Amazon.com (allowing them access to the book review section) and not actually buying and reading the books.
I'll leave the other 200 locations under wraps for now.
