How hard is it to produce a television series where someone(s) are being graphically murdered every week?
NO IMAGINATION REQUIRED!!
So of course the..."SyFy Channel"...jumped at the chance of making this..."Box Office Flop"...of a concept into a television series.
The..."Purge"...weekly table script read among the cast, producers, and makeup effects people...
Table Script Read
Producers Script Intro: "OK, this week we've got five people being killed with bows and arrows, two suicides with duct taped grenades while Bunji Jumping, a dozen torture scenes with..."Black & Decker"...power tools, half a dozen decapitations, dogs and cats being skinned alive, and a water bed filled with battery acid."
Special Effects / Makeup Guys: (Leaning Over) "Ummm, I don't think we have the budget for even a quarter of this."
Producers: "OK, we'll get rid of the...'Black & Decker'...power tools then."

And read the books at another location where Universal Studios and its stealth marketers won't be able to post negative, misleading (stealth marketed) reviews of the books via them purchasing candy and Rogaine Foam on Amazon.com (allowing them access to the book review section) and not actually buying and reading the books.
