1. A clever and witty ongoing social commentary

2. Engaging and psychologically attractive characters in the midst of all of the carnage

3. Truly engaging story arc(s)

4. Offbeat and hilarious character(s)

5. Interesting plots

The..."SyFy Channel"...never thinks along all of these lines in all of its programming. With the..."SyFy Channel"...it's always and only the gimmick and the punchline in the format. It never elaborates any further in trying to make the format as attractive as possible to a mass market audience. This is what makes the people who own and mismanage the..."SyFy Channel"...as monumentally untalented as they are in the profession they erroneously chose.

It also would take the appropriate people at the..."SyFy Channel"...to make..."Blood Drive"...attractive to a mass market audience and a ratings success. The appropriate people who don't work there right now.

Thus..."Blood Drive"...is a ratings flop and hopefully will be cancelled in the next couple of episodes.

And Yet, After Admitting They Blew It With The Stupid Name Change, They Never Changed It Back

They also admit they could have done a better job representing the Science Fiction genre in years past. So, why didn't they do so in the past? Why did THEY (Universal Studios) even buy this channel in the first place if it was never their intention to properly represent the Science Fiction genre?

I'll tell you why. Deadbeat and lazy television executives working for Universal Studios with a snooty attitude towards Science Fiction got their hands on this channel and trashed it on purpose. Then they woke up only to the extent in realizing that the other cable channels and outlets were doing an infinitely better job in representing the Science Fiction genre ("Netflix" with "Stranger Things") than they were and making good money at it. So, SyFy then tried to emulate the other cable channels doing infinitely better than they were at Science Fiction television programming only to fall flat on their faces while attempting to do so because the problem really is, the same people who were at the SyFy Channel in the first place trashing it from day one are still there. The same snooty people with zero imagination and zero inspired thinking towards Science Fiction that got the SyFy Channel into trouble in the first place are still there.

The only solution to the SyFy Channel's problems is that these snooty people have got to go. Ideally, the SyFy Channel needs to be owned by an infinitely better corporation than the Godawful Universal Studios.

What this idiot Bill McGoldrick fails to understand ( in the link above) is that Science Fiction in media has never been..."niche"...Not for the past 40...fu*king....years.

It has been..."mainstream"...since 1977 when..."Star Wars"...came out. And it stayed..."mainstream"...after that through the...1980's....the...1990's....(when the idiotic Universal Studios bought the former..."Sci-Fi Channel"....), the....2000's....and presently the....2010's...

And he doesn't know that when it is supposed to be his job to know that? Toss him out and give his job to someone else who does know the basics of..."Science Fiction in Media 101"....

Nothing positive can ever be said about a cable channel that has suffered from nothing but an ongoing identity crisis since Universal Studios has owned and mismanaged it for the past 19 years. Universal Studios still owns it not because it has been financially successful for them for the past 19 consecutive years (it hasn't), but rather because Universal Studios simply refuses to sell it to another corporation that could do infinitely better in managing it than they ever could.

Universal Studios has thrown everything and the kitchen sink into mismanaging this channel  for the past 19 years, culminating with Universal Studios noticing that the other cable channels are doing infinitely better than they are with Science Fiction television programming and then publicly admitting that perhaps they need to be doing Science Fiction television programming as well since they do own what has supposed to be a Science Fiction channel for the past 19 years. After admitting that..."SyFy"...still isn't a Science Fiction channel and their programming still sucks overall.

 

 

"Dream On"...starring Brian Benben in addition to being one of the greatest sitcoms of the 1990's also starred one of the most gifted, overlooked, and underrated comedic actors ever...Brian Benben. This blog places Brian Benben in the same comic category as the late John Ritter, Dick Van Dyke, and the late Robin Williams. So, it comes as no surprise that when Universal Studios got around to releasing the first two seasons of this legendary sitcom on DVD a decade ago, it went no further and never released the remaining seasons. A status quo tragedy of epic proportions which is nothing new because Universal Studios was involved. This blog would also like to give the great Michael McKean meritorious mention as the hilarious Gibby Fisk.
