Never Will Imagination and Inspired Thinking Collide With The SyFy Channel

Sharknado 3 poster

Remember when the SyFy Channel held a contest for all 50 viewers of the first..."Sharknado"....movie? These 50 viewers were supposed to write in and offer suggestions for the title of the second...."Sharknado"....movie. After receiving title suggestions from these viewers, the best title that the SyFy Channel could come up with was..."Sharknado 2: The Second One."  I suspect what happened here was...the SyFy Channel received title suggestions from viewers that were very good (certainly a lot better than..."The Second One")....but the corporate boneheads at the SyFy Channel were so overwhelmed by the imagination and inspired thinking that went into those title suggestions...that the SyFy Channel boneheads finally just said..."Screw it. Let's just come up with our own status quo, boring, and typically anti-imaginative movie title."

So, here we are at the latest and highly anticipated third..."Sharknado"....movie (I'm anticipating low ratings highly, just as the first two got)...and we have yet another status quo, boring, and typically anti-imaginative move title in...."Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!"....A typical SyFy Channel movie title. Boring, status quo, it doesn't even rhyme. And I suspect given the extremely limited intellect of SyFy Channel executives, it took them all day sitting at a board room table hammering out movie titles to come up with...."Oh Hell No!"

Can I help? Would these alternative titles do?

1. Sharknado 3: Tracheotomy By Air
2. Sharknado 3: Umbrellas Won't Protect You
3. Sharknado 3: Decapitated Boneheads
4. Sharknado 3: Put Them On a Leash
5. Sharknado 3: The Air Surgeons are In
6. Sharknado 3: Bite Them Back
7. Sharknado 3: Remove Their Teeth With a Chainsaw
8. Sharknado 3: The Republicans Are Doomed
9. Sharknado 3: U.S. Supreme Court Sunday Picnic Massacre
10. Sharknado 3: What Happened To The Tea Party?

Does the SyFy Channel even use a..."bumper"...for its...."Sharknado".....movies?

...."Sharknado 3: Tracheotomy By Air......will return in a moment!!"....

I didn't think so!!

And read these books at another location where Universal Studios executives and its stealth marketers won't be able to post negative, misleading (stealth marketed) reviews of the books via them purchasing candy and Rogaine Foam on Amazon.com (allowing them access to the Amazon book review section) and not actually buying and reading the books. I'll leave the other 150 global locations under wraps for now.

It Has Always Frightened Me When Bad Television Programmers Give Highly Detailed, Technical Explanations As To Why Their Television Programming Is So Bad. Yet They Think It's Good

Brand Filter - I suspect that there is indeed such a thing as a..."Brand Filter"....in overall television jargon but it has been so skewed over in actual definition by Bonnie Hammer in her operations of  USA and SyFy  that it has unfortunately taken on the ominous and unfortunate identity of simply meaning..."Bad Television"....on both the USA and SyFy Channels.

What has been the end results of applying this philosophy of..."Brand Filter".... (in television programming) to the SyFy Channel's schedule despite Ms. Hammer's sunny and rosy (and probably skewed) technical explanation of it?

1. Wrestling
2. Crossing Over With John Edward
3. Ghost Adventures
4. Marcel's Quantum Kitchen
5. Dream Team
6. Haunted Highway
7. Sharknado
8. Z Nation
9. Helix
10. 12 Monkeys
11. Into The Crapper With Wil Wheaton
12. William Shatner's Full Moon Fright Night
13. Sharktopus
14. Scare Tactics
15. C.S.I. reruns
15. Any low budget horror movie made by..."The Asylum"...
16. Ronald D. Moore's "GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only) series

Not a pretty picture, is it?

From my vantage point (the television viewer)....

Brand Filter = Bad Television Programming

Kudos To The SyFy Channel For Always Striving To Attain And Sustain The "Status Quo Mediocrity" And (Lack Of Aspirations) 99% Of The Time In Its Television Programming

This has..."Into The Crapper With Wil Wheaton"....written all over it. Yet another half-ass attempt by the SyFy Channel to produce an information based news service on the goings on in the realm of Science Fiction. The problem with this show right off the bat of course, is in its title. "Nerd" is an elitist, status quo insult by those in the media who regard Science Fiction fans as..."Nerds." This has been the SyFy Channel's dysfunctional business problem from day one and the reason why it has been as unsuccessful as it has been for 15 years, routinely attaining nothing more than its..."Status Quo Self Comfortable State of Mediocrity"....in television programming. "Nerd" is also used by those in the media who are fearful of Science Fiction because it requires sustained imagination and inspired thinking to be monumentally profitable at all times within the realm of Science Fiction which the SyFy Channel has repeatedly....FAILED TO DO....for 15 consecutive years. So those in the media who are routinely unprofitable at a noteworthy level (SyFy) when attempting Science Fiction are also routinely prejudicial against it.

It's a psychological way of licking one's own wounds at the corporate level.

I'll give..."Nerdist News"....three or four episodes before its cancellation just like every other hunk of junk on the SyFy Channel with a $1.98 production budget created in that..."Corporate Vacuum of Zero Talent / Zero Taste / Zero Imagination / and Zero Inspired Thinking"....at NBC-Universal.

You Know? If The Sci-Fi Channel (Erroneously Titled "SyFy" Presently) Had Just Had Programming Like This (100% of The Time) Beginning 15 Years Ago

...It wouldn't have incurred the wrath of Science Fiction fans across the board and lost those fans in droves never to get them back. This indeed looks promising....BUT!!....it's airing on a network notorious for screwing up 100% of the time with all things Science Fiction and..."Battlestar Galactica"...

As it stands now, the promising..."Killjoys"....should clash quite nicely with the infamous and awful schedule..."SyFy"....is historically known for...

1. Wrestling
2. Ghost Hunters
3. Marcel's Quantum Kitchen
4. Dream Team
5. Into The Crapper With Wil Wheaton
6. Crossing Over With John Edward
7. Helix
8. Sharknado
9. Sharktopus
10. C.S.I. reruns

With..."Killjoys"...the SyFy Channel now only has to fix 99% of the rest of its schedule to get it to fit in with the outer space setting of...."Killjoys."

We're making some real progress now, aren't we?!!

Intergalactic bounty hunters. I like it!!

Why Do People Who Have Always Sucked At Doing Science Fiction Continue To Try And Attempt Science Fiction?

Ronald D. Moore - His biggest success was being associated with the..."Star Trek"....franchise. A franchise created by Gene Roddenberry and guided further along to great success by Rick Berman. He (Moore) produced and wrote various episodes and films of...."Star Trek"....because the committee already put in place by Gene Roddenberry and Rick Berman to make all things...."Star Trek".... was so thoroughly thought out that even if Ronald D. Moore wasn't very good at what he did the other committee members would veto and course correct what wasn't quite right with his... "ahem"... suggestions for..."Star Trek." The Rick Berman era of.... "Star Trek"....was made by committee. So if someone such as Ronald D. Moore wasn't very good as a producer / writer....the other members of the committee course corrected the problems. So in his first gig, Ronald D. Moore lucked out.

"GINO" - (Galactica in Name Only) - Ronald D. Moore wasn't so lucky with this gig. "GINO"...was a gig so pumped up on the steroids of  false advertising, misleading and endless stealth marketing, and false promises....that Ronald D. Moore ultimately failed to deliver..."Battlestar Galactica"..Instead, Moore's first solo producing and writing gig without the wisdom of a committee to course correct every laughable (stupid) decision he made was marred by lazy producing and writing. Borrowing (swiping) chunks of story material from...."Blade Runner"...and..."Star Trek: Voyager"....to pastiche together a $1.98 universe that looked like beautiful downtown Vancouver on a sunny day with business suits being the primary component of wardrobe. "GINO" was anything and everything...but...."Battlestar Galactica".... This production was so lazy, it didn't even try to hide the fact that it had no imagination and inspired thinking in art direction / production design and its obvious location filming in Vancouver. This is the sort of production that never would have made it on the air if anyone working at Universal Studios / Sci-Fi Channel at the time were sane.

"Virtuality /  17th Precinct" - The first indications that the further Ronald D. Moore ventures away from his parents basement (the SyFy Channel)... when trying to do Science Fiction projects of his own creation, the more likely it is he can't get a job beyond the pilot episode proposal stage.

"Outlander" - Surprise, Surprise!! (Not) Ronald D. Moore has found semi-moderate employment with the source material of someone else, just as it was with..."Star Trek." Of course, "Outlander" really isn't Science Fiction, it's a Soap Opera.

Why doesn't Ronald D. Moore just give it up (his bad attempts at Science Fiction) and get a staff writers job on..."Days of Our Lives?" Much more realistic and scaled down employment for someone of his...limited imagination?

Bryan Singer Picture

Bryan Singer - Good lord!! The only thing this guy knows how to make is..."X-Men"....movies and even then, they aren't that terribly interesting or very good. His intended and announced (fake press releases) of wanting to make an endless parade of..."Science Fiction"....based productions has resulted in an endless parade of aborted Science Fiction projects going back a decade and a half.

"Welcome To The World of Gods & Men." Will Viewers Survive The Low Budget Wardrobe From a Vancouver, British Columbia Halloween Shop?

Yes, there are..."Gods & Men"....in the air at the SyFy Channel. Gods & Men who dress in clothing looking strangely like bits & pieces of garments we the viewers could acquire at a local Halloween shop. I see cotton and I see rubber in those costumes. Fabrics and materials invented centuries after the era of the Roman Empire.

I Have An Even Better Idea For "April Fools Day Programming" On The SyFy Channel

A game show that pretends the SyFy Channel is a legitimate cable network with legitimate television programming that can be taken seriously. 3 or 4 contestants stand at their podiums with a "Buzzer." The series of questions asked collectively lead the contestants on a path of "false impressions", making them erroneously believe that the SyFy Channel is a successful cable network. Such as...

"Which of the following successful cable networks won the prestigious "Hugo Award" for "Best Dramatic Presentation" in 2014?.... "A&E"...."SyFy"....."PBS".....or...."Hallmark Channel?" There is no correct answer to this question because none of the cable channels mentioned are Science Fiction channels.

Of course, the contestants beforehand know absolutely nothing about the SyFy Channel. Not hard to envision.

At the end, the contestants are shown a...."Photo Montage Film Clip"....of what the SyFy Channel really is (An absolute mess of a cable network)....accompanied by a..."Sitcom Laugh Track".....You know, right? Film clips of..."Sharknado"....are shown in the montage...."GINO" - (Galactica In Name Only)...."Wrestling"...."C.S.I. reruns"...."Marcel's Quantum Kitchen".....with the..."Sitcom Laugh Track"....laughing at each of these clips shown.
